Kayce & Nelli Day 44 7-31-2022

KAYCE was first and we did more yard work with heeling off lead. He is improving at it and we then worked more on retrieving. We started with just 1 "mark" and then I started to ask him to watch 2 "marks" before releasing him to retrieve the first one. Once he brought back the first I then released him to retrieve the 2nd. A "mark" in this instance is just watching me throw a bumper. So I threw 2 bumpers and asked him to retrieve both of them to me one at a time, but he first had to watch me throw them both without breaking. He did great and I was pleased. They weren't long marks but he will start to get the idea now so when we get to that point he won't struggle as bad, he will just have to work on remembering where they land.

NELLI was next and we also started to work more on heeling off lead. She did better but was still a little distracted by being off lead where she felt she had more freedom. We then worked on place training and she is going to it good on command from about 20 feet away. We then did the same thing as we did with Kayce, and that was work on single marks first and then work on double marks. She did great on retrieving. She wanted to break at first but by the end of the session she was holding steady good. She's not perfect yet but is getting better on her steadiness. Both dogs are making great strides towards finishing their program.
